Me and my girlfriend’s absolute favorite place to eat. The staff is so kind and have gotten to know us over the several times we have been here. The food comes out ridiculously quick and is absolutely phenomenal. Super affordable for how great this place is, absolutely recommend.

For several years, I’ve been on a hunt for the best avocado smoothie—from Maryland to Illinois, across the Midwest, and even Arizona. No two are ever the same, and there’s something almost magical about how each one tastes subtly different. To date, my favorite comes from a small Vietnamese restaurant in downtown St. Charles: Pho Ly—a true hidden gem, especially if you know what to look for. It has that “once you know, you know” kind of energy—the kind of place regulars like me keep coming back to. It’s easy to miss, tucked between brighter storefronts on 3rd and 4th Street. The entrance is unique—you step into a small glass vestibule that feels like something from another era. But once inside, it’s a completely different experience: warm lighting, clean, modern, spacious, and cozy. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Very good flavor and plenty of options, the staff is very friendly but I guess they need more hands, slow in the service or support with some questions. The place is nice and it's only needed table charger for baby in the restrooms.

The restaurant’s ambiance was very cozy and charming! We ordered salt and pepper tofu as an appetizer, and everyone loved it. It was simple yet delicious. The Vietnamese crepe had a crispy egg batter and was served with lettuce, pickled radishes, and cucumbers, making it refreshing and appetizing. My boyfriend and I had the pho and Bun Bo Hue. The broths were both very flavorful. My Bun Bo Hue included tender pork trotters and fresh blood pudding, which were excellent. His parents ordered the dry vermicelli, one with a combination of meats and the other with spring rolls. They preferred the combination option. The service was friendly, and we all thought the food was delicious. It was a satisfying meal.

I was excited about having a Vietnamese restaurant in town but Pho Ly out did my expectations. Food service atmosphere and prices all good. My favorite is Shrimp Pho and the salt and pepper Smelt. The spring rolls are very good also. In fact everything I've tried is good and very fresh.
